Independent education & learning planning

Clear thinking about what to learn next.

RSH Bury Ltd helps individuals and families work out which education and training options actually fit. We start with what you want to achieve, research the courses and resources that can get you there, compare them honestly, and put a practical study plan in front of you — so the choice is yours, and it is made on evidence rather than guesswork.

  • We are not a school or a course provider. We plan and advise, and we have nothing to sell you at the end of it.
  • Nothing is promised. No grade, pass or place is guaranteed by us, and we say so plainly.
  • Information about a young learner is provided by a parent or guardian and used with their consent.

Fees are fixed and agreed in writing before any work begins.

Why people use an education planning service

Four things that shape how we work with you

We are not an education providerWe do not run courses, hold places or sell tuition, so nothing we recommend is tied to our own income.
We compare, we do not guaranteeOptions are set out with their costs, timescales and drawbacks. Outcomes depend on the learner, not on us.
Written for families, not committeesEverything is in plain English, and a parent or guardian can follow every stage of the reasoning.
Your information stays with youWhat you tell us is used for your plan only. It is never sold, and it is never passed on for marketing.
What we do

A written picture of your options, before you commit to any of them

Choosing a course, a college or a training route usually means working through a dozen prospectuses, comparing entry requirements written in different ways, and trying to guess which option will still make sense in three years. The information exists — it is simply scattered, inconsistent and hard to weigh up fairly.

We do that work for you. Starting from a structured conversation about goals, current position and constraints, we research the options that genuinely fit, check the practical details that matter, and lay them out side by side. You finish with a plan you can act on, and the reasoning behind it written down.

  • A written brief that every option is measured against
  • Courses and resources researched for current entry requirements
  • Comparison on the criteria that actually drive your decision
  • A study plan with stages, timings and a review point

Where we are usually asked to help

Six situations we plan for most often

Most enquiries start from one of these points. If yours is different, that is normal too — the process is the same.

Learners on a staircase in a college building

Choosing a college or sixth form

Entry requirements, subject combinations and travel time weighed against where the learner wants to end up.

Students walking along a tree-lined campus path

University and higher education routes

Course structures, entry profiles and the difference between similar-sounding degrees.

Apprenticeships and vocational training

Levels, providers, day release arrangements and how each route builds towards a trade.

Reading course material at a desk

Returning to study as an adult

Access courses, part-time options, funding routes and what providers expect from mature applicants.

Writing up notes at a desk with a laptop

Changing direction or retraining

Which qualifications are genuinely required, what can be learned without one, and how long it takes.

Our services

Five services, taken on their own or run as a full plan

Each one is a piece of work with a defined finish. You can stop after any stage.

Education Goal Review

A structured conversation and short written brief that turn a vague sense of what should come next into something we can research against.

  • Goals stated in the learner’s own terms
  • Current position and prior learning mapped
  • Constraints: time, money, travel, commitments
  • Realistic routes identified and ranked

Course & Resource Matching

A current picture of the courses, providers and learning materials that fit your brief, researched rather than recalled.

  • Course types and levels laid out
  • Learning resources and materials shortlisted
  • Comparison on entry requirements and format
  • A written recommendation list with sources

Study Plan Development

The options that survive research are turned into a plan with stages, timings and a point at which to review it.

  • Stages and milestones in order
  • Weekly and termly time commitments
  • A realistic study rhythm around work or school
  • What to have finished by each stage

Learning Options Comparison

Two routes can look identical in a prospectus and be very different in practice. We set out where the difference lies.

  • Side-by-side comparison table
  • Cost and overall duration for each
  • Advantages and drawbacks labelled
  • A decision memo summarising open points

Ongoing Guidance

Once a plan is running, we stay available for the reviews and adjustments that nearly every plan needs.

  • Progress reviewed against the plan
  • Adjustments when circumstances change
  • Questions answered as they come up
  • A clear view of the next step
How it works

From first conversation to a plan you can start

Most plans are delivered within three weeks of the first conversation, depending on how quickly information can be gathered.

1

Goal review

A structured conversation covering aims, current position, constraints and what the learner genuinely enjoys.

2

Research

Courses, providers and resources checked against current entry requirements and availability.

3

Compare

Options laid out side by side on your criteria, with costs, timescales and drawbacks stated.

4

Plan

A written study plan with stages and timings, plus time to talk it through before you commit.

One-to-one conversation with notes on the table
One named contact, start to finishYou always know who is doing the work and what happens next.
Working together

Advice from a person, not a search engine

Search results are very good at telling you what exists and very poor at telling you what suits you. Behind every plan we write is a conversation about the learner — what they are good at, what they have already tried, and what they would actually enjoy doing for three years.

  • A named planner who handles your enquiry from start to finish
  • Written updates at each stage, not silence
  • Questions answered between stages rather than only at the end
  • A defined finish, with nothing open-ended

We do not sell courses, tuition or places, and we do not receive payment from any college, university or training provider for a recommendation.

Built to be compared

The same questions asked of every option

Looking at one course at a time makes everything sound promising. Put four side by side on the same page and the differences become obvious — which is usually where the real decision gets made.

Every option we research is assessed against the same framework, so you are never comparing a carefully researched route with something you happened to read in a corridor.

What a plan draws on

The detail behind a written route

Providers, requirements, costs and daily practicalities — the things a prospectus rarely settles on its own.

Sample plan entries

What a written plan actually looks like

Three illustrative entries from a plan. Yours will reflect your own goals and the options genuinely open to you at the time.

Quiet university quadrangle in the afternoon

Route A — college then degree

The longest route but the one that keeps the most doors open, with the learner stepping up a level at a time.

  • Two-year college programme, then a degree route
  • Entry requirements met for the first stage
  • Travel within the stated limit
  • Funding options noted for each year
Two colleagues walking and talking in a corridor

Route B — apprenticeship

Earns while learning and builds a trade, but the weekly pattern leaves less room for a part-time job.

  • Level agreed with current qualifications
  • Selected providers researched and compared
  • Day release arrangement stated clearly
  • Progress beyond the apprenticeship mapped
Writing up notes at a desk with a laptop

Route C — return to study, part-time

Fits alongside existing work and caring commitments, but takes longer and needs a steady weekly rhythm.

  • Part-time or evening option identified
  • Weekly study hours set realistically
  • Prior learning and credit transfer checked
  • Review point scheduled after the first term

Illustrative examples only, shown to demonstrate the format of a plan. They are not recommendations, and no outcome or qualification is promised.

We are independent

We take no payment from providers, so our only obligation is an accurate picture for you.

We promise nothing

No pass, grade or place is guaranteed by us. Planning improves decisions; it cannot determine results.

We never hurry you

You decide the pace. There is no target, no quota and nothing owed if you decide not to go ahead.

We handle data carefully

Where a learner is under 18, information is provided by a parent or guardian and used with their consent.

Common questions

The questions families ask first

Are you a school, college or tutoring company?

No. RSH Bury Ltd is an independent education and learning planning service. We do not teach, we do not hold places on any course, and we do not provide tuition. We research and compare options and write plans; the teaching itself is delivered by whoever you choose.

Can you guarantee a pass, a grade or a place?

No, and you should be cautious of anyone who says otherwise. We do not guarantee exam results, grades, course places or admission to any institution, and we make no claim to improve a learner’s marks by any particular amount. What we provide is research, comparison and a plan.

How are your fees worked out?

Every stage has a fixed price agreed in writing before we start, and the current range runs from £45 for a first conversation to £195 for a complete learning plan. There is no commission and no percentage of any course fee. Ongoing guidance beyond the first eight weeks is quoted separately.

How long does a plan take?

Most plans are delivered within three weeks of the first conversation. Where entry requirements need confirming with a provider, or a learner is waiting on results, it can take longer — and we will say so as soon as that becomes clear.
